GAME PLAN
- Classroom Instruction
- Daily classroom instruction will precede on
the court activity. Through the use of videos, handouts, overheads
and daily quizzes, each player will learn the mental and physical
aspects of the point guard position.
- Shooting and
Corrective Shooting - Several hours of
the Academy will be devoted to the proper mechanics of shooting drills and
the essentials of corrective shooting. Numerous shooting drills will be
presented to enhance each players performance in preparation of her next
season.
- Drills - Desales University offers two full size gyms with six courts to teach and practice
a variety of drills in the half court and full court setting.
Daily activity will include numerous passing and transition drills to
enhance player action and reaction to particular situations.
- Baden Big Ball - The
Baden Big Ball will be utilized to improve ball handling, passing and shooting
skills. The Accu Shot Shooting Aid will be utilized on all the
baskets. New: The Baden Heavy Trainer will be sold at
the academy.
- Situation Analysis - Players will be taught the essentials for
attacking a variety of defenses, full and half court, late game
strategies, the keys of fastbreak offense, the transition game and much
more.
- Leadership and
Motivation Analysis - Classroom and homework
assignments will include handouts, discussions and presentations on the
strategies of motivation and qualities of leadership.
- An Active and
Experienced Staff - All of the staff members
are currently coaching and instructing/directing at camps and/or playing
the game. The Academy director has worked with George Lehman, Buzz Braman, Herb Magee, and Ace Hoffstein on the art of shooting.
- Five Contests - One
on One, Free Throw, Speed Dribble, and all-around challenge.
- Use of the recently patented Koch
Katcher for passing drills.
- Please note that Desales
University has opened a state of the art dining facility that is
air conditioned and spacious with a diversity of meals.
